About Us

The Marna Bolt Ballet School was established in 1978 in Pretoria. Since then classical ballet was taught on a continuous basis.

The aim of the school is to develop a love and appreciation for classical ballet. To achieve this, ballet is introduced to pre-school children and encouraged to continue dancing up to vocational level.

Learners are encouraged and prepared to enhance their dancing skills through partaking in examinations, eisteddfods and shows.

Bravura Ballet School recently partnered with Marna Bolt Ballet School and both follow the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus.

Teachers

Sanmarie Kreuzhuber

Sanmarie started her ballet training at the age of 3. Her teachers include Marna Bolt, Paula Olivier, René Callis, and Kelsey Middleton. She joined Joburg Ballet, where she danced professionally for 15 years and was promoted to Senior Soloist in 2016. She danced the lead role in all major ballets and represented Joburg Ballet internationally. She also lived and danced in Copenhagen and Berlin for two years. While dancing, she discovered her love for teaching and obtained her Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies from the RAD in 2018. She also acquired her teaching diploma from the AAB (American Academy of Ballet) Performance Awards and the PBT (Progressive Ballet Technique) physical conditioning certificate.

Marna Bolt

Marna obtained her BA (LO) at the University of Pretoria. She started her ballet teaching career in 1977, after completing her teaching education at the RAD as well as SADTA. Marna taught dance at the University of Pretoria from 1998-2017. In addition to being a qualified BASI Pilates instructor, Marna is also a qualified Dance for Parkinson's instructor.
